InnoTech donates time to help UCP fix long time computer problem
United Cerebral Palsy of Southeastern Wisconsin (www.ucpsew.org) has been worried for years about an older computer that ran their billing software. Each time they tried transferring it to a newer computer it didn't work, and they were concerned they would lose both the program and the valuable accounting information it contained.
Through connections with one of our clients, we were put in touch with UCP staff to see if we could help. After exchanging several messages and some time on-site at the UCP office, we were able to come up with a solution to resolve the problem.
At UCP's Board of Directors Meeting in June, they commended InnoTech for its quick response and said "Jim succeeded in doing something that we had been trying to do for years. We are grateful to Jim for donating his time to help us resolve what could have been a very serious problem if our old equipment had failed."

| BE GREEN, GO PAPERLESS! (PART 2) – The Benefits |

In last month’s newsletter (insert link here) we highlighted several costs associated with paper / hand-written forms including:
- Printing and copying costs including paper, toner and repair service fees,
- Poor hand writing resulting in wasted time trying to clarify the information,
- Inaccurate information resulting from math errors,
- Copying and distributing the paperwork so different people can process the same information, and
- The biggest cost to your business being wasted time!
Through computer software, these time wasting activities can be automated with a lot of benefits and savings, including:
- Reduced paper usage and printing will not only help save a tree or two, but reduce wear and tear on your printers and copiers. That means the copier repair service won’t be needed as often!
- Having your employees or customers enter information directly into an application or website means that the information can be saved to a database for later use. In addition, checking can be performed to ensure the information is correct before it is saved. No more time spent following up due to bad penmanship!
- Computers are good at math! Let the application or web page perform the calculations. Your employees or customers won’t have to calculate totals or apply formulas, resulting in accurate information being saved.
- Since the information is saved in a database, the different departments or staff members that need the same information only need to run a report when they need the information instead of having to rely on a copy of the original with the bad hand writing and arithmetic errors.
- For forms that require review or approval, the application or website can route the submitted form electronically to the appropriate department or staff member. You no longer have to worry about forms being lost on someone’s desk awaiting approval. The status of the electronic form can be checked at any time.
- New / additional information will be available now that the original data is stored in a database. Consider the different summary reports, trend analysis, and monitoring information that could make for better and more informed decisions.
- In addition, the information stored in a database can be integrated with other systems further reducing data entry time and related errors in other systems.
